Can anyone install EarlyAlert ™ ?

Yes, anyone can install EarlyAlert™. Installation is simple and generally takes only a few minutes to complete.

How many EarlyAlert ™ units should be installed in my home or building?

There’s no limit to the number of EarlyAlert™ units you can install. The optimal quantity depends on how many fire-risk devices are present in your space. Common areas include lithium-ion battery charging stations, electrical panels, and clothes dryers.

EarlyAlert ™ require 120-volt power?

No. EarlyAlert™ Heat Sensors require no power to operate while the Sounder requires a 9-volt battery.

What battery is required for EarlyAlert ™ ?

The EarlyAlert™ Heat Sensor requires no battery. The Sounder takes a standard 9-volt battery.  Use quality batteries and never use rechargeable batteries because they may not always provide a consistent charge.

Will EarlyAlert ™ chirp audibly when the battery needs replacing?

Yes, EarlyAlert™ chirps to indicate that the battery needs replacing.

Does EarlyAlert ™ provide a visual indication when the audible alarm has been triggered?

No. EarlyAlert™ provides an audible alarm only.  There are no visual indicators when the alarm has been triggered.

What’s included in the EarlyAlert ™ package?

  • One (1) Heat Sensor
  • One (1) Sounder
  • One (1) 9-Volt battery
  • Two (2) connection cords: one (1) 1-ft and one (1) 6-ft option
  • Mounting screws and wall anchors for both components

Why does EarlyAlert ™ ship with two cables?

Only one connection cord is required but two different length cords are supplied to provide flexibility for mounting locations of the heat sensor and the sounder.

What temperature triggers the EarlyAlert ™ Heat Sensor to activate its alarm?

EarlyAlert™ is triggered to activate at 60°C / 140°F

Can EarlyAlert ™ be reset after activation?

No. EarlyAlert™ is a one-time activation device.  The heat sensor cannot be reset after its alarm has been activated. The sensor must be immediately replaced after it has activated. The Sounder can be re-used.

Does EarlyAlert ™ require any regular maintenance or routine testing?

The Heat Sensor and Sounder should be inspected from time-to-time to ensure that they have not been damaged or become dislodged and to ensure that no debris or dust has accumulated in the sensor or alarm vents. Vacuum the exterior of the Heat Sensor & Sounder regularly to remove dust and debris. Never paint over or cover the Heat Sensor or the Sounder. No testing is needed and there is no test button on EarlyAlert™.

Does EarlyAlert ™ eliminate the need for smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors?

No. EarlyAlert™ is designed to work alongside, not replace, traditional smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. It offers additional protection in specific risk zones (like garages or workshops), especially where standard alarms may be prone to false triggers from dust, humidity, or steam. EarlyAlert™ does not interconnect with smoke alarms and/or carbon monoxide detectors.

EarlyAlert™ is particularly effective in garages, for example, where smoke alarms can be triggered by various factors that mimic the presence of smoke or interfere with the smoke alarm’s sensor. Common causes include dust, humidity, steam, combustion particles and insects.

How often should I replace my EarlyAlert ™?

EarlyAlert™ should be replaced at least once every 10 years unless the sensor has been triggered, in which case the Heat Sensor should be replaced immediately.

Has EarlyAlert ™ undergone rigorous testing?

Yes. EarlyAlert™ was designed by engineers from the nuclear energy field who conducted extensive testing to ensure that every safety precaution has been met.

What certifications apply to EarlyAlert ™ ?

EarlyAlert™ has a UL approved heat-responsive element.
